Simon De Vere

Director of Migration Services

Simon De Vere is one of Australia’s most experienced immigration policy and client service managers with over 30 years’ experience in advising and supporting migrants and refugees as a senior policy and operations director of the Department of Home Affairs (and its predecessors) in Australia and overseas.

After working for the Australian foreign service and the Australian House of Representatives, Simon served with the Australian Immigration Department until late 2013. As well as working in Canberra and Melbourne, Simon served as an Australian immigration officer in China, Myanmar, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam.

Simon has worked in close partnership with a range of United Nations agencies, including UNHCR & IOM, Australian overseas agencies, and representatives of host governments. In his role as Regional Director of the Australian Department of Immigration in South Africa and China, Simon has led Australian delegations to a range of UN and other NGO consultations of global and regional immigration issues.

Simon is a graduate of the Australian National University College of Law, a member of the Migration Institute of Australia and an alumni Oxford University Summer School on Forced Migration.

Simon develops Australian immigration legal and policy advice for Stirling Henry clients. Simon leads the Stirling Henry migration services team to ensure effective, successful solutions are delivered.  He maintains quality assurance and code of ethics practice.

Essence Purcell

Senior Migration Agent

Essence Purcell is an accomplished Senior Migration Manager. She has worked in both the Australian and New Zealand public sectors and has over 10 years’ experience in immigration and border security. During this time Essence has gained extensive exposure to Consular Representatives and members of the Department of Home Affairs.

Essence is a registered migration agent. She is also fluent in French.

Essence prepares strategic advice, manages applications for lodgement and liaises with key stakeholders at the Department of Home Affairs to deliver successful outcomes for her portfolio of clients.

Lisa Williams

Marketing Manager

Lisa Williams has over 20 years’ experience working in integrated marketing communications and business management. She has worked in the United Kingdom and Australian private sectors and developed insights and commercial experience across many industry types.  

Lisa manages the Stirling Henry client experience, develops communications strategy, and liaises with media stakeholders.

Jack Hoysted

CEO

Jack Hoysted is an Australian lawyer with more than 30 years’ experience in administrative law, refugee law, industrial relations, personal injury, and litigation. In private practice, he has worked for two leading Australian law firms, acting for both individual clients and corporations.

He was also a Member of the Australian Refugee Review Tribunal for 10 years and has written on refugee and immigration issues for various publications. Complementary to his legal career, Jack has also consulted to various public and private sector organisations on strategic, policy and government and public relations matters.

Jack is a long-term resident of Hong Kong and from there he manages the Stirling Henry Asia operations.
