Australia-India Migration and Mobility Partnership Arrangement

The Prime Ministers of India and Australia have taken the opportunity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Australia, to sign the Australia-Indian Migration and Mobility Partnership Arrangements which forms part of the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA).

The Arrangement provides:

  • Indian nationals to access the Work and Holiday Maker Visa program

    • 1000 places will be available per year to young Indians

  • Incentives to study in Australia through the Post-study work visa program

    • Post-study work visa outcome applies upon completion of a Diploma or trade qualification (stays up to 18 months), a bachelor degree ( stays of up to 2 years), a master degree (stays up to 3 years), and doctoral degree (stays up to 4 years)

    • Additional year of stay for high-performing STEM bachelor degree graduates (extended from 2 years to 3 years).
