Provisional or Limited registration can now be accepted for all Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) regulated occupations.

The Department of Home Affairs has advised that since 22 December 2022, subclass 186 visa applicants no longer need evidence of full AHPRA registration.

This means that Provisional or Limited registration can be accepted for all AHPRA-regulated occupations. Additional information may be required to confirm that they have a sufficient level of registration, and a decision maker can request a statement from the nominator stating that the license or registration the applicant currently holds will allow them to effectively perform the duties for the occupation they are being nominated in.

The new policy will be applied to applications already lodged, as well as newly lodged applications.
