Australian Resident Return Visas
Australian permanent residents are required to have a 'resident return visa' in order to travel overseas and then re-enter Australia.
It is usual for a 'resident return visa' to be valid for 5 years. It is possible for this visa to be granted to existing residents and even ex-residents that have lost their residency status. Options for applying for a resident return visa include:
- maintaining residence in Australia for 2 out of the last 5 years; or
- maintaining appropriate close and continuing ties to Australia
It is also possible to obtain a 3 month resident return visa. This visa obviously has a lower threshold requirement for eligibility.
Stirling Henry is an expert in obtaining resident return visas for our clients and we welcome your enquiry.
